BY SCDSB Educators, FOR SCDSB Educators!
Patrick Miller is the Principal of Innovation with the
Simcoe County District School Board. Together with a dynamic team of
Innovation Resource Teachers they support creative and innovative learning and
teaching opportunities for all students and staff.
In his keynote, Patrick will share his experiences and insight into how the innovator’s mindset can
transform learning and teaching. He will highlight what we can learn from the
arts and how to remix it for use in other disciplines. Patrick will also discuss
how social media, change theory and purpose combine to support student agency,
staff development and technology enabled learning environments.
Jane Dewar is a teacher in the SCDSB. She is currently seconded to the Board as an IRT for Equity & Inclusion and was the 2010 Ontario Teacher of the Year. Jane is the co-president of the Ontario Art Education Association, a member of the National Roundtable for Art Education and was part of the writing team for the Revised Arts Curriculum, EduGains and other Ministry writing projects. She is mom to two pretty great kids and Scout, the Wonder Dog.
In this fun and dynamic keynote address, Jane will share
deep, dark secrets about how to:
-
Teach curiosity and creativity
-
Teach the kids you’ve got (and not the ones you WISH
you had)
-
Engage all 21st century learners, including
reluctant learners
-
Celebrate the Revised Arts Curriculum, including the
creative & critical analysis processes
-
Integrate social justice, environmental art, financial
literacy, diversity and character education into your lessons
-
Advocate for the arts to students, admin and parents
(teaching artfully makes EVERY subject better!)
